Happy 50th Birthday Singapore!

Happy 50th Birthday Singapore. Though I can't be there, I do wish you a continuous lifetime of prosperity, great foresight, and utmost safety. Thank you for being the country that I grew up in. Thank you for providing a safe and developed country for me to be educated in fine schools, clean surroundings and never failing to provide me with good food. I would never count myself a patriotic citizen nor soldier, but I would like to congratulate my home on its 5th decade of independence. It is and will always be my home, where I grew up, where my parents have brought me up, where I have met my friends, where I have fallen in and out of love, where I have had my first fights, where I have gotten my first beat up, where I have experienced my greatest amount of pain, yet where I have also experienced the highest point of euphoria.

Having studied overseas for close to a year and a half, I can say that, amidst the sweltering heat, the over-congestion, the idiocy that is STOMP, nothing is better than stepping into home ground. I'm proud to say that I have done my part for Singapore (though not more than that) and I'm proud to say I'm a Singaporean.
