July, busy as a bee. 화장실에 가지 못할 만큼 바빠요!)

We were in Seoul a few weeks ago during the mini-vacation that we had and was exploring the different places.. Had some magnificent food that I'll tell you along the way as you look through the photos..

This over here is superb.. During Summer there's this thing that's widely sold all around Korea called the Bingsu (빙수) and there're different flavors. I saw one over at Insa-dong that was melon flavored and inside a melon bowl, but after checking the price it was a whopping 15,000 won. Thus we didn't eat it and finally, this day came where we saw this.

Amazingly creamy vanilla ice-cream a-top generous balls of melon chunks. All on a mountain of ice dripping with condensed milk. Served in a really cute beaker.

 Noodle Box ~ Asian Food

The next morning we went around in search of brunch food.. Couldn't find anything with scrambled eggs, toast and sausages/bacon so we settled for this which had a great-smelling bakery at the front of the restaurant. The food was pretty okay, but cost quite a bomb too, since it's in Hongdae area.

They're pretty well known for their croquettes so we had to get this platter

Tofu steak, not as nice as imagined

This one takes the cake though, sausage and egg.

Pim-on's mum came to visit so we were going around on her final day and we ate Taco Bell. Don't have photos, think I forgot to take them. Since the final remaining Taco Bell in Singapore was closed down, I didn't have the chance to try it again or even remember how it tasted like considering how young I was. But now, I have the chance to try it again... It's not THAT great, but still, it's a cheaper alternative if you miss mexican food.

Found a bed full of lavenders while walking around Hongdae, so beautiful! Makes a great backdrop~

How do you like my hair :D

The next day we went to Han River, located Ttukseom station. Since people usually go there to cycle (sort of like the East Coast Park in Singapore) that was what we did too. The view was amazing, and people were sitting everywhere and ordering chicken to eat. I guess that's a Korean thing, and one day I'm going to go back there and try it.

Posing with the bike

Saw this pretty gaping hole between the 2 bridges and had to take some photos here. The Han River actually has some amazing sights and backdrops for good photoshoots. Was pretty glad that I went there, however a little bit sad that I didn't order chicken and sit down to eat. Maybe I'll plan it better next time.

After which, the glorious day was almost about to end, and we went to a 8,000 won MEAT BUFFET (고기 뷔페) omg it was amazing, but as usual, I ate too much and was really full after we were done. Had to walk around for a bit before I felt better.

Upon returning to Cheonan, I found out that my package from my CG had arrived! Box full of Singaporean goodies for my birthday! It was an amazing sight, seeing all the food from my home. Even had Singaporean Chilli Crab sauce (Which I haven't cooked because I'm lazy as hell to get a crab) But the rest are all gone, and the friends who cooked with me and tried it said they were nice (More about this in next post)

Ashley's Buffet again

Tonkatsu

Okonomiyaki

Cup Bingsu (컵빙수)

This is a fantastic idea, if you ever want to eat 빙수 but can't finish it in an entire sitting, there's a shop nearby in Cheonan Terminal which sells this for only 4,500 won instead of the usual 9,000 won for a big bowl. This one comes in a bowl and has generous toppings and ingredients. The cheesecake one has amazingly creamy cheese cakes topped on it. Superb soft-serve ice cream too.

Nutella Crepe :D

The next day we tried Han's Deli, due to Kiyo's constant raving about the restaurant. Turns out, it's like a high schooler's hangout after school because it was PACKED with kids of all ages (just not the ones that are our age.. hahaha) So we ordered and tried the food. It was so-so, not as good as he raved but otherwise cheap for it's content.

Pork Cutlet Tonkatsu

Garlic Bulgogi Fried Rice

Due to the summer holidays, our favourite Ajuma place that sells the gochujang pork is always not open when we go there, so we decided to try a few other food houses that sold these too. There're different kinds of side dishes and the ones here were pretty okay. This place was owned by an old woman too and she was so kind, asked us to help ourselves.

Before I continue, I have to rave about this sweet nectar of the gods that is the melon ice-cream. It comes in a easy-tear plastic cup with a spoon and it's melon + cream. It's around 1,500 won each and it's enough for 2 people (unless you have a monstrous appetite) It has a sweet and delicious mix of cream and melon and it just tickles your taste buds the right amount.

This has been my breakfast of late for the past month

And my easy-to-prepare lunch.

Naro recommended this meat buffet house in Cheonan that was 10,000 won each and we all went to try it together on the Friday that we needed to buy ingredients for our cook-out on Sunday. It was pretty good, they had good food and good meat, and the best of it all was that it was free-flow!

Sneakily hidden in a corner on the 2nd floor

Look at that spread

Look at this potato that I love so much

I had the luxury of trying this 빙수 that was seasonal. It's mango cheesecake. Imagine sweet mango chunks that're so cold they chill your entire body, among creamy and soft cheesecake chunks. Topped with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and sprinkled with almonds. It's so so so good! I cannot believe I only ate it once.

You know those very common Korean eating houses like 김밥나라 (Kimbap country)...? Well we went to try those traditional Korean foods from one of those places and indeed they were nice. The taste was very simplistic and very traditional. A little different to the usual stuff on my tastebuds but they were a nice surprise.

Bulgogi Rice (불고기덮밥)

Kimchi Fried Rice (김치 볶음밥)

That's all for now, I realize there's been a lot of food pictures in this post, but I had to summarize all the stuff that I had eaten and experiences that I had from the past few weeks in one post because I've been really busy with studies and exams for this month.. It's been one hella hectic month!
